Joseph Moore

Joseph Moore

The Author

Joseph Moore spent his childhood swinging sticks around the cornfields and woods of Illinois, pretending he was in Middle-earth instead of the Midwest. Now, he is a West Point graduate and former U.S. Army Infantry Officer who served for six years, leading soldiers in Kansas, Georgia, and across Europe. He wrote his first fantasy series in middle school after reading John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice books, and continued to write for fun (and assignments) through high school and college. He started his current novel during his years of service.

Moore writes middle-grade fantasy, hoping to take everything he knows about leadership, courage, perseverance, and self-sacrifice to craft characters and stories that children can carry with them. He currently lives in Georgia with his wife, three children, and loyal golden retriever.

Welcome to Theridal, a medieval world of heroes and magic. Join James and Cassandra as they race against time in this heart-wrenching middle grade debut perfect for fans of Skandar and the Unicorn Thief and Impossible Creatures!

James Storie and
the Tree of Life

Seeking Representation Ages 10–14+

Thirteen-year-old James Storie has thirteen days to save his mother's life.

His only hope comes when Cassandra—a quick-witted girl who's lost her own mother—pulls him into a magical world called Theridal, where a golden fruit from the legendary Tree of Life can heal his mother.

James and Cassandra embark on a dangerous journey to find the Tree, and James becomes an unwilling Outlander at the center of a legacy he never asked for. They battle hungry goblins, bargain with a dragon, and become targets of a ruthless enemy named Nilas, who hunts Outlanders like James. While time slips away at home, and the consequences of his quest stack up, James must decide just how far he's willing to go to save the person he loves most—and find out whether Cassandra will let him risk it all alone.
